On the 11th of March, the Student Chapter attended a technical talk hosted by our associates at the AusIMM Hunter Region Branch. Jinhe Tan from Argus Media travelled from Singapore to the University of Newcastle to deliver an insightful update on the thermal coal market.

The presentation provided attendees (predominantly engineers and geologists) with valuable exposure to another side of the industry, offering broader context on the market influences and current events shaping the future of the resources sector.

Following the presentation, students had the opportunity to network with established industry professionals beyond the scope of the Student Chapter. Likewise, branch members were able to reconnect with academia and engage with emerging talent from the University.

The event brought together 25 students and professionals from across the Hunter Valley, with dinner and drinks following the technical talk.
